Like ripe ackee ready to be picked off trees, feels like heat licking your whole body even when you’re sitting still, taste like best grape nut ice cream served out the back of a car.
Like ladies piling into a church van in their Sundays best and the roar of motorbikes leaving the local bar after sharing rum specials with friends.
Like the incessant “baaahs” of stubborn goats trying to run away and the frustration of playing dominos with someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing.
Like an unexpected downpour drenching your whole body while you go on a walk with future jerk pork. Knowing that though annoying, the rain was necessary for harvest. And nothing beating those quiet mornings where the air tastes damp, earthy and everything is green.”
