Photo Walk with Eddie Otchere
FESTIVAL Event
Meet at: Oriel Colwyn Gallery
Date/time: FRIDAY 3rd OCTOBER: 11.00am - 4pm
A photo walk starting at Oriel Colwyn that explores the festival town, incorporating traditional photographic practices and community action.
Led by the legendary photographer Eddie Otchere and sponsored by Kodak, the walk gives participants the opportunity to shoot a roll of Black and white film, process and scan for display, creating digital contact sheets for sharing with the group in a visual exploration of the walk’s findings.

You don’t need prior knowledge or skills of using traditional film to participate, all levels of expertise are welcomed, from seasoned photographer to complete beginner, we will help you through the workshop and share knowledge of using the film cameras if required.
This event is FREE to attend but limited to 18 participants. Analogue film cameras will be available to use/borrow - or bring your own!
The walk begins in Colwyn Bay, lasts several hours and digital photographers are welcome to join us, but the group display/discussion will only feature film photography shot that day.
A complimentary roll of 35mm Black and White film will be provided via kind sponsorship from Kodak.
Eddie Otchere is a photographer best known for his photographs of the seminal rappers, singers, and DJs of the mid-1990s and early 2000s. He was a guest speaker at last year’s ‘inbetweener’ Northern Eye Festival, and we are thrilled to welcome him back this year to lead this unique workshop.
Eddie’s celebrated works include portraits of Biggie Smalls, Black Star (Mos Def & Thalib Kweli) So Solid Crew, Estelle, Goldie, Omar, and many others, as well as his official coverage of the Metalheadz: Blue Note sessions 1994-1996. He has also worked with major brands, including Apple, Converse, Casio G-Shock, Leica, and Spotify.
Since 1993 Otchere’s photographs have been exhibited and published worldwide, including on the covers of major international magazines such as Dazed, Lodown and Mixmag, and on the covers of some of rap and drum & bass music’s seminal albums.
