Do you have a passion for photography? Want to gain experience working on one of Wales’ leading international photography festivals?
We’re looking for talented, motivated volunteers to help make The Northern Eye our best edition yet.
The International photography festival returns this autumn (7th October – 20th October) with two weeks of free photography exhibitions across Colwyn Bay plus a fabulous selection of speakers at a ticketed weekend event (Sat 12th and Sun 13th October) alongside workshops and events.
This year we have over 20 exhibitions within the town and we can’t wait!
Who can get involved?
At Northern Eye we welcome people of all ages and backgrounds, with all types of skills and levels of work capacity. Many of our volunteers are photographers, students or enthusiasts keen to meet new people and learn and share skills. If you can spare a minimum of two half-days a week throughout October, we’d love to hear from you.
Why get involved?
Volunteering at Northern Eye is a great way to gain experience and new contacts. You’ll get first-hand experience of running exhibitions and events; engage with a dynamic group of arts professionals, curators and artists; and make new friends. You’ll get an in-depth experience of the exhibitions, there’ll be plenty opportunities to socialise and we’ll reward your commitment with a full weekend pass to the main speakers event.
What volunteer roles are available?
A variety of volunteer roles are available, both in front of and behind the scenes. From the install/de-install team, exhibition explainers and invigilators, event photographers, brochure distributors, event assistants, evaluation assistants… you get the idea, there are many varied opportunities.
When would I be needed?
You’ll need to commit to a minimum of two half-day sessions per week, although we would love you to fully embrace the opportunity if you can commit to more.
Installation starts very soon from mid September (although there are a few things to help with RIGHT NOW if you’re at a loose end!) with de-install in late October and then throughout the festival, 7th October - 20th October.
